In Vietnam, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is the most prevalent illness and this disease remains the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in children under five years of age.

Pneumonia is the most serious and life threatening form of ARI infection in Vietnam, however cuttently only 60% of children with ARI are taken to see a doctor.
